When I was on full school pickup duties I was super productive between the hours of 10am and 2pm because I had to.
Without these restrictions I can spend entire days sitting at my desk but not sure if I have achieved anything.
If a task is in my diary there is a high likelihood it will happen at that time. If it is not, that task can sit on my todo list for weeks.
Time limits, dairy appointments, deadlines, committing to someone you will have it by X all seem to work.
What does not work is pushing something out when you have no good excuse for not doing it now. Not feeling like it is the worst excuse of them all.
False or real, imposing these restrictions can lead to improvements in productivity.
