I find myself torn between the certainty of process and the unpredictability of innovation.
Process will give you repeatable outcomes with the ability to refine and improve small components which compound for a better result.
Innovation however often means you throw out pre-existing assumptions to make big moves forward.
Finding that balance is important for most to survive the short term whilst continuing to grow.
Noticeably however I observe business sticking to what they know, what they have always done and what is safe.
I have always admired the Google approach where everyone gets dedicated time every week to work on what ever they want as a pet project. This is where ideas like Google Maps came from.
Are you setting regular time aside to innovate, to grow, to reach new heights, to give it a go?
Or are you stuck in “That’s how we’ve always done it” mode?
