There is a reality television series called “Alone” where participants are dropped off on an island with nothing but a few basics to fend for themselves. Last person standing wins half a million US.
The situation forces them to focus on the basics for survival. Water, food, fire, shelter and avoidance of predators.
When talking to camera, the dialogue is either about one of these basics or family.
No-one talks about work or possessions. Not one has talked about holidays or nice cars.
Just family.
Maybe we need to occasionally strip back the extra layers we put on ourselves and truly discover what is important to us.
