On a zoom call recently with a new contact and as with many first meetings it began a little clinical.
The conversation felt stilted until our dog Eddie made his cameo as he often does. Wondering into frame and seeking attention.
Immediately evident was the shift in energy in the call that went from awkward to friendly chatter as we discussed the virtues of a needy dog.
It had become personal and consequently a lot more relaxed ending with I believe a stronger bond with the new contact.
If Covid taught us anything is that our authentic selves are more genuine and quite frankly more interesting than the business masks we once wore.
