Information OVERLOAD or Filtering FAILURE?

Information OverloadAre you DROWNING in Information?

Is there SO MUCH information crossing your path that it all starts to BLUR?

Do you feel OVERWHELMED with everything going on?

Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Email, Blogs, Youtube, Buzz, Viddler, StumbleUpon, Messenger, Chat, Podcasts and lets not forget, TV, Radio, Newspapers and good ole Books.

Is it truly an Information REVOLUTION?

Everyday we seem to have a NEW FORM but in reflection, I wonder what it was like for those people around when the radio was first available or when the TV became AFFORDABLE for most, did they too feeling the information influx OVERWHELMING?

There is no doubt that we are INUNDATED with information every day but I don’t see it as TOO much and here’s why:

  • I say NO to some forms. I don’t need to be on everything all of the time.
  • I RESTRICT the time I spend on information intake so that I can get on with DOING.
  • I have total information DOWNTIME everyday┬ái.e. go for a walk without the headphones and listen to the birds chirping.
  • I have learn’t to QUICKLY filter the ‘wheat from the chaff’ so that I intake only relevant information I want or NEED.

CHOICE is a great thing but treat it with caution so it doesn’t OVERRUN your life.

How do you MANAGE Information?

  1. It all boils down to being in TOTAL control of yourself, knowing when to say No and when to say Yes and to how much.
Unfortunately not all people are able to keep that control and it is a lot of learning to be done to get there.
Many are lost in the maze of it all, and struggling to keep a balance….
Maybe it would be helpful to give more tips on how to keep that balance…. Though the tips you have already given are right on, if implemented….

  2. Genial post and this mail helped me alot in my college assignement. Say thank you you for your information.
