#0468 Working Through Pain

It is both beautiful and horrific at the same time.

From someone who has had the joy of three children learning to play instruments I can talk first hand as to the pain and pleasure of practice.

The first time my daughter dragged her bow across her violin was like listening to fingernails dragged across a blackboard. My son on the trombone a sad trucks horn and middle daughters’ cello a whoopee cushion strapped to a dogs hind leg.

Slowly but surely the screeches began to resemble sound and before too long actual music was being played.

The intial cringe was replaced with smiles from ear to ear. We were proud of them and they of themselves.

Sometimes you have to experience discomfort to get to joy.
