#0155 Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast

The title of a book I just bought by Ken Forkish about the art and science of baking artisan bread.

I bought this book as I have recently discovered a passion for baking good bread but have quickly come to realise that even though there are only 4 ingredients, there are an infinite number of nuances to each element.

There are also a number of other considerations like, volume, temperature and time.

Tweak one element and the resulting loaf can change dramatically and not always for the better.

It occurred to me that building and running a business is very similar. There are only a few core elements.

Have something to trade, find someone willing to trade with you, make the exchange, manage the flow to keep this happening.

Nothing to it right?

Anyone can bake a loaf of bread (and run a business) but the challenge is to know when to wait, when to go, when to adjust and when to stick to the recipe.

You may only be one tweak away from baking a great loaf or having a great business but unless you are open to ideas and willing to try, you may have to settle for less.
