#0279 The Game

It was like the World Cup title was at stake.

Nil all at full time, nil all after extra time and it was down to penalty shots. 5-5, 6-6…10-9 and it was all down to the final shot from the opposition.

The pressure on our goalie was intense. The crowd was quiet and the boys were visibly shaking.

The shot was taken, our goalie dives and with the tip of his fingers saves the ball, victory.

My sons final game in his final year. It meant a lot. Loss would have been devastating for sure.

It was an incredible way to finish his school sporting career but I had to remind him, he had played hundreds of games, scored hundreds of goals in the 10+ years that had led to this day.

Along the way we had celebrated many wins and analysed many losses.

It is all part of the game we play every day.

Do not let the pressure and possible loss of one spoil the entire journey.
