#180 It’s Not Your Story That Matters

You’ve worked hard.

It started with an idea and has been followed by countless long days and late nights.

You have iterated, tweaked, pivoted, re-tweaked, added to, taken from, talked it through. There are a lot of moving parts but when you stand back from the chaos it looks beautiful to you.

It’s your baby and to justify the work, the fee, you want to tell the whole story, where it began, the effort, the history.

I get it.

Customers don’t care, sorry.

Friends might but customers don’t. It sounds harsh but it’s true.

Customers are busy dealing with their own complicated story and are far too engrossed in that to be invested in yours.

Embed yourself in their story and you stand a fighting chance.
