“You don’t need me anymore”
It is the sentence I work toward when working with clients.
If I do a great job the systems, people and technology should work in unison to remove the need for me to drive it.
It is a strange goal to make myself redundant over and over again but here is why you should too.
For a business to really be considered a business it must be greater than the sum of its parts. Business is often built by great, skilled people but should never be reliant on any one of them to continue to succeed.
If you are a key player that keeps it all together then you are doing the business (and its people) a disservice.
Be so good at your job you can leave anytime, but be super valuable you don’t have to.
